On Dec. 15, The Indiana Rail Road Co. (IRR) named David Long and John De Paemelaere vice president of marketing and sales, and manager of operating practices, respectively.

Long joined the 155-mile short line in 2000 as director of new business development. He's spent more than 20 years in railroading, previously serving several regionals and Class Is in marketing and management positions. Long now will be responsible for attracting new non-coal business and reload/transload service customers.

A more than 30-year rail industry veteran, De Paemelaere most recently served Burlington Northern Santa Fe as chief operations officer in San Bernardino, Calif. He will be responsible for training and monitoring engineers, including field testing, fuel-efficiency performance and train-handling skills.

Operating a Bloomington, Ind.-to-Newton, Ill. line, IRR moves coal, coke, grain, lumber, appliances, metals, sugar, corn, sweeteners, petroleum products, plastics and chemicals. The short line employs 90 in Indiana and Illinois.
