Iowa Interstate appoints one, promotes two

Last month, Iowa Interstate Ltd. (IAIS) promoted Superintendent of Car and Locomotive Jeff Jansenius to chief mechanical officer and Manager of General Accounting Cathy Smith to assistant controller, and named Sherry Sanchez director of finance.

Since joining IAIS in 1988, Jansenius has held stints as assistant chief mechanical officer, superintendent of mechanical/transportation, car department superintendent, mechanical superintendent, master mechanic and mechanic carman. He also previously served IAIS’ Iowa Railcar division as estimator, billing clerk and plant manager.

An IAIS employee since June 2003, Smith will be responsible for accounts payable and payroll functions.

Most recently a treasury analyst for McLeod USA, Sanchez previously served as assistant controller for Eagle Ottawa and operational accountant for Titan Plastics.

Owned by Railroad Development Corp., IAIS operates 600 track miles between Omaha, Neb., and Chicago on the former Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad's mainline. The regional also operates over a branch line between Bureau and Peoria, Ill.
