Today, Kansas City Southern announced that David Ebbrecht will direct operations for the Kansas City Southern Railway Co. (KCSR). KCS previously announced on July 24 that he had accepted the position of senior vice president of operations of Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. (KCSM).

Formerly VP of transportation for KCSR, Ebbrecht will remain in the United States as senior VP of operations and continue to direct KCSR's operations because of the departure of KCSR Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer Scott Arvidson. Ebbrecht will report to David Starling, KCSR’s president and chief executive officer, and KCS’ COO.

KCSM SVP of Operations William Nolen will remain in that role and direct the railroad’s operations. He will continue to report to KCSM President and Executive Representative Jose Zozaya.

Meanwhile, the Indiana Rail Road Co. promoted Robert Babcock to VP of operations; Micheal Engel, to VP and chief accounting officer; and Peter Ray, to VP of engineering.

Most recently the regional’s general manager of transportation, Babcock previously held various operations and business development positions with the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway (AT&SF) and CSX Transportation. Engel most recently was Indiana Rail Road’s controller and previously held various management positions with General Finance Corp. Ray has held various track maintenance, project engineering and management positions with AT&SF, the Chicago & North Western Railroad, CSXT, LTV Steel and Cleveland-Cliffs Inc.
