Kansas City Southern recently promoted J. Daniel Freeman from general director of strategic analysis to assistant vice president of strategic analysis.

In 1995, Freeman joined the Kansas City Southern Railway Co. as assistant superintendent of transportation. He later served as general director of the customer service center, director of crew management and director of labor relations. A 29-year rail industry veteran, Freeman began his career as a locomotive engineer with the Santa Fe Railway, where he later held various labor relations and operating positions.

“His leadership will continue to be crucial as we develop and implement several initiatives to further expand our franchise,” said Larry Lawrence, special assistant to KCS Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Haverty, in a prepared statement.
