KCS promotes Flores to VP automotive, intermodal sales

Kansas City Southern has promoted Rodrigo Flores from vice president of automotive to VP of automotive and intermodal sales, effective Sept. 1.

Flores will be responsible for the KCS' automotive and intermodal business units in the United States and Mexico He joined the predecessor to Kansas City Southern de Mexico in 1997 as a manager in external reporting. 

In 2000, Flores joined KCSM's treasury department as director, serving in that role until 2006, when he accepted a position as assistant VP and assistant treasurer at KCS' corporate headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. Flores transitioned from his work in treasury to sales and marketing as AVP of the automotive business unit. He has served as VP of automotive since September 2019.

"While leading our automotive business unit over the past year, Rodrigo has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving our customers and growing our business," said UP Executive VP and Chief Marketing Officer Michael Naatz in a press release. "The consolidation of our automotive and intermodal business units creates a single organization aligned with our customers' needs and the KCS cross-border growth strategy."

Flores has more than 20 years of transportation experience, complemented by a senior auditor position with Price Waterhouse in Mexico City prior to joining KCSM.
