Kansas City Southern de Mexico President and General Manager Oscar del Cueto has been elected president of the Mexican Association of Railroads (AMF).

This term is del Cueto's second as AMF president, having served from 2020 to 2021, as well as the association's operations and security committee chairman for five years, KCSM officials said in a Facebook post.

During his new one-year term, del Cueto will focus on the Mexican freight- and passenger-rail industries. He has more than 30 years of rail industry experience.

Since joining KCSM in 2006, del Cueto has served in numerous roles including director of mechanical, director of transportation, general superintendent of transportation and vice president and general director, which he held until being named president in August 2020.

Del Cueto was a key member from KCSM in securing the concession within Mexico. He is on Railway and Terminal del Valle de Mexico's (Ferrovalle) board. He is also a member of the Mexican Council of Foreign Trade of the Northeast, and in January 2021 was appointed to the board of the American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico.
