Union Pacific Railroad recently appointed John Kelly vice president and chief health and medical officer. He will be responsible for managing UP’s health programs and developing strategies to improve employees’ wellness.

Kelly most recently served as senior vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs for Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. He previously held senior executive positions with the American Medical Association and Aetna.

“With [Kelly’s] help, we will continue to build on the success of our health and wellness initiatives while developing new and visionary practices to enhance our culture of health, safety and quality of life,” said UP SVP of Human Resources Barb Schaefer in a prepared statement.
