advertisement
Tacoma Public Utilities recently named Dale King superintendent of Tacoma Rail. He succeeds Paula Henry, who left the short line in March to pursue a career with a private railroad.
King most recently was director of rail services for Weyerhaeuser, where he managed 200,000 annual rail shipments in North America and supervised the operations of five short lines employing more than 140 people. King previously served Burlington Northern Railroad in various capacities.
As superintendent, King will oversee one of the nation’s largest short lines, one that employs more than 100 people and generates more than $18 million in annual revenue, according to Tacoma Public Utilities. The 204-mile Tacoma Rail is an operating division of the utility.
