Montana Rail Link (MRL) recently appointed David Koerner vice president of finance and administration. He most recently served as the more than 900-mile regional’s controller.

After launching his railroading career with the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1976, Koerner joined MRL in 1990 as director of revenue accounting. He later became controller for I&M Rail Link — which at the time was owned by MRL parent the Washington Group of Cos.— before returning to MRL as controller in 2002.

MRL operates track in Montana, Idaho and Washington, and interchanges with BNSF Railway Co., Union Pacific Railroad and the Montana Western Railway.
