The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA) recently named Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina chairman to succeed Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who completed his one-year term July 1.

A LA MTA board member since 1993, Molina was elected to the state assembly in 1982, Los Angeles City Council in 1987 and Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in 1991.

Prior to public office, she served the Carter Administration as deputy for presidential personnel and was deputy director for the San Francisco Department of Health and Human Services.

The 13-member LA MTA board comprises five L.A. County supervisors, four members appointed by the L.A. County City Selection Committee, L.A.’s mayor and three mayoral appointees.
