MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) has appointed David Kubicek senior vice president-operations; Bruce Pohlot, senior VP-engineering; and Edward Dumas, VP-market development and public affairs. The appointments are effective Dec. 29.

"David Kubicek and Bruce Pohlot bring with them decades of railroad industry experience, and Edward Dumas is a veteran of government and corporate public affairs on Long Island," LIRR President Patrick Nowakowski said in a press release.

Kubicek previously worked at Dallas Area Rapid Transit, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority in Washington D.C., where he served as chief mechanical officer and deputy general manager. At LIRR, he will be responsible for transportation, and equipment and station maintenance.

Pohlot began his career at the Lehigh Valley Railroad and also worked at Conrail. He spent the majority of his career at Amtrak, where he most recently served as chief engineer, and at the Parson Brinkerhoff engineering firm. In his new role at LIRR, Pohlot will be responsible for engineering, the Department of Program Management, as well as East Side Access and special projects.

Dumas comes to the LIRR from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's executive staff. Prior to joining the MTA in February 2014, Dumas served in senior positions in Suffolk County government and at the Long Island Power Authority. At LIRR, Dumas will oversee marketing, public information, corporate communications and government affairs operations.
