LRIW seeks board nominations
The League of Railway Industry Women (LRIW) is looking for candidates to serve on its board of directors.
The league's board represents a cross section of companies involved in all aspects of railroading, including freight railroads, transit authorities, suppliers, contractors, consultants, trade associations and industry press.
"I urge women to join me in helping to promote our industry and the role women play in its success by applying for an LRIW board position,” said LRIW President Jodi Heldt in a press release.
She added that serving on the organization's volunteer board confers many benefits, such as leadership experience, networking opportunities and facilitating increased recognition for women in the railroad industry.
LRIW members may nominate themselves or others for board positions. Board members serve a three-year term.
Nominations are due Dec. 1, and elections will be held via email ballot in mid-December. All nominees must submit a board nomination/commitment form, LRIW officials said.
