The League of Railway Women has named Erica Sander the LRW Member of the Year for 2022.

Recently the LRW’s secretary and an executive board member, Sander previously served Trinity Industries Inc. as manager of public affairs. She is now vice president of government relations for Aristotle, an IT company specializing in voter data for political campaigns.

Founded in 1997, the LRW is committed to connecting and cultivating women in rail in an effort to advance the representation, recognition and opportunities for women working in the industry. The Member of the Year award recognizes an individual’s outstanding contributions to the organization.

“The member of the year award helps us showcase the talents and efforts of our greatest champions,” said LRW Vice President Lisa Tackach in a press release. “Erica joins a diverse register of members whose support and dedication have contributed to LRW’s mission of connecting and cultivating women in rail.”

Sander’s role on LRW’s executive committee helped the organization strategically navigate the pandemic and grow during a challenging time, said Amanda Trainor Patrick, LRW’s immediate past president.

“The rail industry is better because of her leadership and vision," said Patrick.

The LRW also recently installed the following officers for its 2022-23 board: Sarah Yurasko, president, senior vice president of law and general counsel for the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association; Tackach, vice president, head of business development and a marketing and sales associate for Railroad Construction Co. Inc.; Emilia Marceta, secretary, project manager of signals and communications-network infrastructure for Metrolinx; and Urszula Soucie, treasurer, president of the Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association.
