Landsberg, Homendy confirmed to NTSB

The U.S. Senate last week confirmed Bruce Landsberg and Jennifer Homendy as members of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

A general aviation safety advocate, Landsberg was confirmed as the board's vice chairman, while Homendy will fill an empty board seat.

Landsberg, who was nominated to serve as vice chair in September 2017, is expected to serve two years in the role, with his term as board member extending through Dec. 31, 2022, according to a press release issued by the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation (SMART) union.

For her part, Homendy will fill a term lasting through Dec. 31, 2019. Since 2004, she served as Democratic staff director for the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee's Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials.

Before that, Homendy was a legislative representative for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. She also worked for the Transportation Trades Department (TTD), AFL-CIO; the American Iron and Steel Institute; and the National Federation of Independent Business.

"She will bring to her new role a deep understanding of the needs, responsibilities, and obstacles faced by America’s frontline transportation workforce," said TTD President Larry Willis.

In April, President Trump nominated Homendy to the board.
