Las Vegas Railway Express elects Lamphere chairman

Las Vegas Railway Express Inc. (X Train) has elected Gil Lamphere as chairman.
Lamphere currently serves on CSX Corp.’s board and is a partner at FlatWorld Capital L.L.C. He previously served on CN’s and Florida East Coast Railway’s boards, and was chairman of Illinois Central Railroad.
Lamphere’s “extensive experience in the financial side of the railroad industry will serve the company well in the coming years as we make the X Train a reality,” said X Train President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Barron in a prepared statement.
Las Vegas Railway Express has been planning a passenger-rail service between Los Angeles and Las Vegas since early 2009.
