Las Vegas Railway Express names new chairman, director

Las Vegas Railway Express Inc.'s board has elected John McPherson chairman and George Rebensdorf, director.

Former Chairman Gil Lamphere will remain on the board as a director.

McPherson served as president and chief executive officer of Florida East Coast Railway from 1999 until his retirement in 2007. He also is a former president and CEO of Illinois Central Railroad. In 2008, he joined CSX Corp.'s board.

Rebensdorf is president of The Rebensdorf Group Inc., a boutique investment banking and consulting firm for emerging growth companies. He is a finance and mergers and acquisitions professional with more than 25 years of experience in domestic and international industries.

Las Vegas Railway Express is in the process of designing an expedited, luxury train service from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.
