Long-time transit exec Feil takes COO reins at WMATA

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) recently named Steven Feil chief operating officer for rail service to succeed Lemuel Proctor, who is retiring after serving the authority for 30 years.
Feil most recently served Washington Group International as vice president and general manager of operations for the Hudson-Bergen light-rail system. He was responsible for operating and maintaining the New Jersey Transit line, and helped design, construct and test the system.
He has more than 20 years’ experience in the transit rail industry, including 10 years as a supervisor and division engineer for Amtrak. Feil was responsible for constructing and maintaining Amtrak’s track, signals, buildings and bridges in the New York/New Jersey area.
