MARSH USA's Beardsley receives 2011 David W. Fries Award

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) recently named Jim Beardsley of MARSH USA's Global Rail Practice the recipient of the 2011 David W. Fries Award, which recognizes exemplary risk management efforts and practices in the rail industry.
Based in Washington, D.C., Beardsley is managing director of MARSH USA’s Global Rail Practice, where he leads a team of rail risk management professionals. He has nearly 30 years in of insurance industry experience, including more than 15 years in the rail industry. During his career, Beardsley helped establish the basic policy coverage forms used by most Class ls, AAR officials said in a prepared statement.
The award is sponsored by the Railroad Insurance Management Association (RIMA), an association of railroad risk managers that’s overseen by a board of elected officers from railroads and administered by the AAR. The award was established to honor the late David Fries, who was director-risk management for Norfolk Southern Railway and a past president and officer of RIMA.
