The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority last week advanced Collie Greenwood as the sole finalist for the permanent general manager and CEO position.

Georgia state law requires a 14-day waiting period before MARTA's board can confirm Greenwood and officially offer him the job . Greenwood has been in the interim role since since January, following the death of GM and CEO Jeffrey Parker.

A nationwide search identified 11 candidates with varying backgrounds in transportation and other industries, but after interviewing five of them, the search committee concluded that Greenwood is the best fit, MARTA officials said in a press release.

Greenwood began his career in transit as a bus operator with the Toronto Transit Commission, ultimately becoming its chief service officer 30 years later. He joined MARTA in July 2019 as the chief of bus operations and urban planning, and in January 2021, he was named the deputy GM of operations. In that role, he oversaw all rail and bus operations and helped develop and deliver major capital projects, including the procurement of new rail cars and the addition of electric buses.
