The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority's (MARTA) board late last week confirmed Jeffrey Parker as general manager and chief executive officer. Earlier this month, the agency named Parker as the sole finalist for the position. His confirmation followed a state-mandated 14-day waiting period, MARTA officials said in a press release. The agency chose Parker after a nationwide executive search. He most recently served as vice president at HNTB Corp. in Atlanta. From 2005 to 2008, he worked as a senior director of transportation at MARTA. Parker also led transit operations in Boston and Connecticut."There was remarkable unanimity among the board that Jeff was the right person," said MARTA Chairman Robert Ashe. "His broad knowledge of transit and vision for MARTA make him the perfect fit for the authority."Parker replaces former General Manager and CEO Keith Parker, who left MARTA in fall 2017 to become president of Goodwill of North Georgia. The two Parkers aren't related.Elizabeth O'Neill has been serving as MARTA's interim leader.
