Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Chair and CEO Janno Lieber yesterday announced Demetrius Crichlow will become the 12th president of New York City Transit's (NYCT). Crichlow has served as interim president since May.

As president, Crichlow will oversee the NYCT's workforce and operations for the subways, buses, paratransit services and the Staten Island Railway. He has worked for MTA for nearly 28 years, beginning as an assistant signal maintainer for the Long Island Rail Road.

As interim president, Crichlow oversaw major service changes on the G Line, and enhanced services on several others. Prior to that role, Crichlow was senior vice president of the NYCT department of subways for three years, a period during which the subway had its best on-time performance in a decade, according to an MTA a press release.

“Demetrius Crichlow spends most of his waking hours thinking about what’s great about transit service and how it can be even better for millions of New Yorkers,” said Lieber. “And that’s exactly who we need leading a 24/7 system that moves our lives."

Also yesterday, Lieber appointed Tim Mulligan to the newly created position of chief of the rolling stock program and named Mersida Ibric chief people officer. Mulligan's most recent role was as deputy chief development officer at MTA Construction and Development.

Ibric will oversee MTA’s people management strategy. She joined the MTA in January 2022 as deputy chief administrative officer.
