The Greater Baltimore Committee recently named Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) Planning Director Henry Kay to manage a private regional coalition advocating the proposed Baltimore Regional Rail System.
Kay will be responsible for securing funding, and directing regional transportation advocates.
During the past 10 years, he has served in senior transportation planning positions for the state of Maryland, most recently serving as MTA’s director of planning since September 1998.
"Kay has an exception depth of expertise and breadth of transportation planning experience," said Greater Baltimore Committee President Donald Fry. "He knows the complexities of mass transit planning and understands the needs of the Baltimore region."
At MTA, Kay managed 30 employees responsible for short- and long-range transit planning for the Baltimore metropolitan area.
He will assume his new responsibilities April 19.
