Maryland and Delaware Railroad Co. (MDDE) President Cathryn Banks last week announced management changes at the short line.
Allen “Sam” Pate, who has served as MDDE’s general manager since 2016, has retired from his management role. Pate was first hired at MDDE in the late 1980s and worked in the operations and maintenance of way departments for a number of years before leaving to pursue a career in human resources. He returned to MDDE in 2011 and served as chief mechanical officer until being elevated to GM.
"We are grateful to Sam for his many years of excellent service, and we are fortunate that he will continue to be a valuable resource to the MDDE, working part-time within the operations department," Banks said in a press release.
Andrew Rementer has been promoted to GM. Rementer has served as MDDE’s CMO since 2018. Prior to joining MDDE in 2017 as a trainman, he worked in operations with Norfolk Southern Railway for 17 years.
Also, Cody Brinkley has been promoted to CMO. Brinkley has been with MDDE since 2018, during which time he became certified as a conductor, engineer and track inspector.
Meanwhile, Brandy Cathcart has been named accounting manager. She joined the MDDE team in 2016 as a bookkeeper.
The MDDE has served the freight needs of the Delmarva Peninsula since 1977.
