Southern California's Metrolink yesterday announced it has named Elisa Cunningham and Lisa Bahr to the executive leadership team.

Cunningham serves as chief technology officer. She directs Metrolink's information technology, fare collections and positive train control divisions. Previously, she served as assistant vice president of technology at Dallas Area Rapid Transit. Cunningham has more than 30 years of experience in technology and leadership.

Bahr serves as chief customer experience officer. She leads Metrolink's customer relations, customer and market insights, communications, public relations, marketing and social media teams, and the corporate partner program. Most recently, Bahr was global director of marketing, communications and customer experience at Cubic Transportation Systems.

"Together, [Elisa and Lisa's] talents — along with those of the entire Metrolink team — will ensure our agency is prepared to meet the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead," said Metrolink CEO Darren Kettle in a press release.

Meanwhile, Metrolink earlier this month completed the full deployment of its advanced earthquake early warning system. The system is based on an interface between the U.S. Geological Survey ShakeAlert System and Metrolink's PTC system. ShakeAlert is an earthquake early warning system that provides data within seconds of an earthquake being detected — including location and magnitude, Metrolink officials said. Together, the two systems enable trains to detect and respond to an earthquake as quickly as possible.
