Metrolink has appointed Ilyssa DeCasperis as the first chief people officer of the commuter railroad that serves six Southern California counties.

DeCasperis brings more than 32 years of legal experience and 20 years in human resources management to the position, including a background in health care, according to a Metrolink press release. She will lead strategies and processes to build and retain employees and serve as the agency’s equal employment opportunity officer.

Most recently, DeCasperis was vice president of human resources at Doctors Hospital in Riverside, California, where she developed and implemented employee experience strategies. Prior to that, she spent two years in labor relations at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York City.
