Elissa Konove was appointed Metrolink's deputy chief executive officer, effective Sept. 14.

In her new role, Konove will provide leadership and support on budget, finance and other policies. She'll also work toward improving the system for riders, agency officials said in a press release.

Konove currently serves as chief financial officer at the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), a position she's held since 2008.

During her time at the FHWA, Konove has been responsible for a $40 billion annual budget, which included audit, accounting and grant management, as well as procurement operation activities. Additionally, she has managed $27.5 billion the administration received from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Metrolink officials said.

She joined the FHWA in 2006 as director of its office of budget after serving as a program examiner and budget preparation specialist for the President's Office of Management and Budget.

"Elissa's experience at the FHWA, the White House Office of Management and Budget, and with Congressional leaders in Washington, D.C., will be invaluable as Metrolink continues to be a national leader in rail safety and passenger service,” said Metrolink CEO Art Leahy.
