Metrolink and the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) announced new board appointments this week.

Metrolink announced Vivian Romero has joined its board. Romero serves as mayor of Montebello, California, which is located on Metrolink's Riverside Line. She was appointed to Metrolink's board by Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Chairman Eric Garcetti, who also serves as mayor of Los Angeles.

"I am pleased to welcome Mayor Romero on behalf of the Metrolink Board," said Metrolink Chair Andrew Kotyuk. "She is dedicated to addressing the mobility needs of her constituents in Montebello and the San Gabriel Valley as well as the entire diverse Southern California region."

SamTrans has tapped Charles Stone to serve as a representative on the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (JPB). Stone, who is the mayor of Belmont, California, will represent SamTrans on the board beginning in January. He replaces Rose Guilbault, who served on the JPB since 2014.

The JPB owns and operates Caltrain. SamTrans partners with the city and county of San Francisco and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority to manage Caltrain.

The nine-member JPB is composed of three members from each of the three partner agencies.
