Metrolink's board elects new officers

The Southern California Regional Rail Authority last week announced new officers have been elected to the board, which oversees Metrolink.

The board elected Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) representative Shawn Nelson as chair; Riverside County Transportation Commission member Daryl Busch as first vice chair; and Ventura County Transportation Commission member Keith Millhouse as second vice chair.

Officers serve one-year terms, but they may serve a two-year term if re-elected.

Nelson is a supervisor on the Orange County board and is chairman of OCTA.

"We are at the point where financial and geographic constraints will prevent us from continuing to widen our freeways in Orange County," he said in a press release. "Metrolink provides a key component for those traveling to the Inland Empire, Los Angeles and Ventura."
