The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) has appointed Julie Gascon president and CEO.

She will assume the position on Feb. 12, 2024. In the meantime, Genevieve Deschamps will continue to serve as interim CEO.

Gascon currently is president and CEO of the Pacific Pilotage Authority. She previously held a number of positions with Transport Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard.

With extensive experience in the marine industry, Gascon will bring knowledge of operations in the transportation sector to the Port of Montreal ecosystem and work to implement the 2023-2027 strategic plan, MPA officials said in a news release.

"Her wealth of experience and exemplary career path attest both to her great thoroughness and her innate leadership skills in managing multidisciplinary teams. I am certain that her qualities will enable us not only to continue our current projects, but give them fresh impetus," said MPA Chair Nathalie Pilon.

The Port of Montreal operates its own rail network, which interchanges with Canadian Pacific Kansas City and CN.
