advertisement
Yesterday, the Surface Transportation Board (STB) announced it appointed Francis Mulvey vice chairman to succeed Ann Begeman, who served in the role from May 2, 2011, to Jan. 3.
Begeman will continue to serve as a board member. The vice chairmanship rotates among board members on an annual basis.
Mulvey was first nominated to the STB by President George W. Bush in November 2003 and confirmed by the Senate in May 2004 for a term ending Dec. 31, 2007. Bush nominated Mulvey to a second term in late 2007. His current term ends Dec. 31.
In March 2009, President Barack Obama designated Mulvey as the STB’s acting chairman. Mulvey served in that capacity until August 2009. His most recent vice-chair term ran from Jan. 5, 2010, to Jan. 4, 2011.
