The National Association of Railway Business Women (NARBW) has elected Amtrak veteran Melanie Bennett McKim as its 40th president.She succeeds Laura Gutteridge Anos, who was elected president in 2016.McKim, who has worked for Amtrak for more than 28 years, currently serves as the national intercity passenger railroad's senior business system specialist. She started her career as a statistical clerk. McKim is NARBW's first president from Amtrak, association officials said in an email.During her first 21 years at Amtrak, McKim served at a maintenance facility in Beech Grove, Indiana. She later moved to central Florida, according to an NARBW press release.McKim has served on NARBW's national board for 12 years, including stints as convention president, district director, welfare chairman, scholarship chair and second vice president.NARBW aims to raise interest in the rail industry among women, foster cooperation and understanding, improve the industry's public relations efforts and further its members' educational, social and professional interests. The association has 16 chapters across the United States.
