New Jersey Transit recently added Verice Mason to its board.

Last month, she was appointed New Jersey Acting Gov. Richard Codey’s chief of the authorities unit — a position that serves as the governor’s representative on NJ Transit’s board, and liaison to more than 40 independent state authorities, boards and commissions.

Mason has more than 25 years’ experience with state agencies, law firms and insurance companies. She most recently served as senior vice president and general counsel for New Jersey State Medical Underwriters Inc.

Mason previously served as assistant commissioner for legislative and regulatory affairs for the New Jersey Department of Insurance, where she helped formulate insurance policies under three insurance commissioners and served as the department’s legislative lobbyist. She also served as assistant deputy public advocate in the New Jersey Department of the Public Advocate.
