Norfolk Southern Corp. recently named Newell Baker assistant vice president of industrial development, effective March 1. He will report to VP of Business Development Robert Martinez and assume the responsibilities of Larry Collingwood, who will retire March 1.

Baker, who joined NS in 1973 as a management trainee, most recently served as director of industrial development.

NS' industrial development department assists state and local government and economic development officials in 22 states on projects involving site location and development of infrastructure to connect facilities to the Class I's system.
