NS appoints Paul VP human resources

Norfolk Southern Corp. has named Barbara Paul vice president of human resources.
Her appointment went into effect May 1. Most recently, Paul served as assistant VP of human resources and diversity.
The company needs "leaders like Paul who combine deep experience with an innovative, forward-looking approach," said NS Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer James Squires in a press release.
"Barbara has been playing a pivotal role, reshaping our people strategy to become a more nimble, tech-savvy organization," said Squires. "We look forward to her continuing that important work as our vice president [of] human resources."
Paul joined NS in 2005 as an employee development officer and then moved into marketing. She left the company in 2009 to earn a master of education degree, then returned to NS in 2011 and rose through the ranks in human resources. Her assignments included human resources business partner, manager of people development and director of talent management.
Prior to joining NS, Paul served 20 years in the U.S. Navy.
