NS fills five senior executive positions

Yesterday, Norfolk Southern Corp. appointed five executives to senior marketing, strategic planning and operations positions.

The railroad named Michael McClellan vice president of automotive and intermodal marketing; David Julian, president of automotive and supply chain services; David Lawson, VP of industrial products; David Brown, VP of strategic planning; and Bob Bartle, general manager of the Northern Region.

McClellan most recently served as VP of intermodal marketing. He will be responsible for marketing NS' automotive, auto parts, and international and domestic intermodal services, as well as services offered by NS subsidiary MODALGISTICS.

Most recently group VP of automotive, Julian will be responsible for automotive and auto parts services, truckload service unit Triple Crown Services, MODALGISTICS and Transworks.

Lawson most recently served as MODALGISTICS president. He will be responsible for marketing the railroads' chemical, metals and construction materials, paper and forest products, agriculture, consumer products and government materials services.

Most recently the Northern Region's GM, Brown will be responsible for managing NS' assets and capacity, and formulating growth strategies.

Finally, Bartle most recently served as the Northern Region's assistant GM. He will be responsible for transportation operations in NS' Harrisburg, Pittsburgh and Dearborn divisions.
