NS names Bhatt EVP, chief information and digital officer

Norfolk Southern Railway has named Anil Bhatt executive vice president and chief information and digital officer, effective Aug. 19. He will report to President and CEO Alan Shaw.

Bhatt most recently served Elevance Health, a Fortune 25 health-care company,  as global chief information officer. His 28-year career also includes stints with IAC Inc. and Procter & Gamble.

Bhatt will partner with NS Chief Marketing Officer Ed Elkins to develop better technology solutions for customers that enhance service and build a platform for growth, and will work with NS Chief Operating Officer John Orr on finding ways technology can further safety, operational productivity and efficiency, NS officials said in a news release.

"Anil has a successful track record and reputation for working across teams to deploy technology that will advance the execution of our balanced strategy of service, productivity and growth, with safety at its core," said Shaw. "Along with his technical expertise, Anil brings a leadership style that reflects our values, with demonstrated success as a collaborative leader."
