Norfolk Southern Corp. yesterday announced three promotions in executive management.
Michael McClellan has been named senior vice president and chief strategy officer. A lifelong railroader, McClellan spent the first decade of his career at Conrail before joining NS in 1998.
McClellan is known for his knowledge of the North American rail network and long list of accomplishments, said NS Chief Financial Officer Mark George in a press release.
"He was one of the architects of the development of our intermodal network into the most powerful in the East, a significant strategic advantage," George said. "He is leading the advancement of innovative public-private partnerships such as our recent agreement with the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority."
McClellan also led the launch of the RailPulse coalition, an industry implementation of telematics for rail cars.
Also promoted this week are Nabanita Nag to SVP and chief legal officer, and Clay Moore to VP and controller. Nag will succeed Lorri Kleine, who will retire March 1. Moore will succeed Clyde Allison, who also retires March 1.
Nag joined NS in August 2020 as general counsel, corporate. Her responsibilities include Securities and Exchange Commission reporting and compliance, corporate finance, corporate and board governance, shareholder engagement and oversight of cybersecurity and data privacy matters.
Moore joined NS in 2011 as manager of accounting research and has progressed through roles including manager of revenue reporting, assistant treasurer, director of accounting research and analysis, and director of investor relations before assuming his current role as AVP of corporate accounting.
McClellan’s appointment is effective Feb. 16. The appointments of Nag and Moore are effective March 1.
