Russell Quimby has joined the engineering staff at Rail Sciences Inc. He’ll work primarily on train accident and derailment, risk assessment, and forensic investigations.
Quimby spent the past 22 years with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), where he was an “investigator in charge” and participated in more than 80 individual major train accident investigations. He also chaired the mechanical, track and operations investigation groups during his NTSB tenure. Prior to joining NTSB, Quimby worked as a planning officer for the U.S. Army Railway Battalion and held various mechanical positions with the Burlington Northern Railroad.
After an initial stint in Rail Sciences’ Atlanta office, Quimby will be assigned to the engineering consulting firm’s Omaha, Neb., office.
