The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Corp. (NOPB), a subsidiary of the Port of New Orleans, has named M.D. "Mike" Stolzman general manager.

Stolzman previously served in leadership roles managing operations, budgets and rail lines during times of change, port and railroad officials said in a press release.

He most recently was vice president and chief operating officer of rail for Trinity Metro. Stolzman previously served as president of the Anacostia Rail Holdings' Pacific Harbor Line, which provides rail transportation services to the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.

His previous experience also includes managing several short line and switching operations as an executive with Anacostia, including president of the Louisville and Indiana Railroad and Gulf Coast Switching Co. Stolzman also formerly served in management positions at Union Pacific Railroad and CANAC, a CN subsidiary.

“Mike’s track record, broad skill set and specific ideas to optimize operations gave him a clear edge in that competitive pool. His previous experience working with Class Is, as well as short lines serving the nation’s top ports were key in his selection," said Brandy Christian, president and chief executive officer of the port and CEO of NOPB.
