New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB) earlier this month appointed Jared Sleeth director of business development.

In the role, he manages NOPB's relationships with its industry customers and Class I business partners. In addition, he's responsible for marketing the short line's service, promoting opportunities for new business and assisting in planning and service design, NOPB officials said in a press release.

Sleeth joined the railroad's management team in 2015 as a trainmaster and spent nearly a year in the transportation department before taking up his latest role.

Previously, Sleeth served as Union Pacific Railroad's manager of yard operations in Parsons, Kan. His experience at the Class I ranged from high-volume main line operations to local customer service, NOPB officials said.

Sleeth worked in the trucking and warehousing industry before starting his railroad career.
