New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) recently named Kevin McConville chief of MTA police to succeed Thomas Lawless, who died earlier this month.
A 23-year MTA police veteran, McConville will oversee the 725-member department, which is in charge of security for the MTA railroads, Long Island Bus and Staten Island Rapid Transit. Most recently first deputy chief, McConville previously held positions as captain, commanding officer, lieutenant and executive office of patrol division, sergeant and detective.
"McConville has a proven record in law enforcement and his vast experience will greatly assist the MTA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and security of our system," said MTA Chairman Peter Kalikow in a prepared statement.
