OmniTRAX Inc. continues to bolster its senior staff with former RailAmerica Inc. executives. Yesterday, OmniTRAX named Alfred Sauer executive vice president of marketing and strategic planning.

He will be responsible for strengthening the short-line holding company's marketing efforts, expanding business development operations, and targeting and pursuing acquisitions.

For the past eight years, Sauer has served RailAmerica, most recently as senior VP of marketing and sales. During that span, he helped increase RailAmerica's North American revenue from $6 million to $350 million annually.

"We have some very aggressive plans for developing business with existing customers, as well as expanding our business through acquisitions," said OmniTRAX Chief Operating Officer Robert Parker — a former RailAmerica senior VP who joined OmniTRAX in August 2003 as EVP-rail and recently was named COO — in a prepared statement. "Al will be heading up a group of experienced marketing professionals to grow the company significantly."

Earlier this month, OmniTRAX named former RailAmerica General Manager Carl Hollowell Western Region vice president of operations and president of Great Western Railway of Colorado L.L.C.
