OmniTRAX Inc. yesterday announced four top management appointments and promotions.

Topping the list: the promotion of Darcy Brede from senior vice president and chief operating officer to president and COO. He will assume responsibility for all OmniTRAX operations and business units in the United States and Canada, and report to Executive Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer Brad Skinner.

Brede, who has more than 26 years of rail industry experience, previously served OmniTRAX as regional VP of Canada and general manager. He began his career with BC Rail Ltd., where he held such positions as network operations director, manager of service design and area service manager.

OmniTRAX also promoted Scott Bell to interim chief financial officer, effective April 6. He will assume all responsibilities for accounting and finance within the short-line holding company and report to Brede.

Bell has more than 12 years of railroad financial accounting experience and formerly served OmniTRAX as divisional controller, assistant controller, director of accounting and financial analyst. He began his career with the Durango & Silverton Railroad, where he held positions in both operations and administration, and later worked in public accounting and served other private industries.

In addition, OmniTRAX named Peter Touesnard chief commercial officer, effective April 8. He previously served RailAmerica Inc. since 2000, progressively managing various parts of the company. Prior to that, Touesnard held management positions at various companies owned by RailTex and J.D. Irving Ltd.

Finally, OmniTRAX owner The Broe Group appointed Brad March VP of human resources, effective April 1. Over the years, he has managed HR functions at Percepta (a joint venture company with Ford Motor), Heseldon Construction, Storage Tek-Sun Microsystems and Teletech.
