OmniTRAX Inc. yesterday announced it appointed Merv Tweed president of OmniTRAX Canada.Tweed yesterday announced his resignation from Canada's House of Commons after serving as a member of Parliament for more than nine years. OmniTRAX Canada owns and operates the Port of Churchill, Manitoba, and provides all stevedoring services. Rail service to the port is provided by the Hudson Bay Railway Co., an OmniTRAX subsidiary. The port's Churchill Marine Fuel Terminal is the largest fuel terminal in the Arctic, according to OmniTRAX."Merv brings a terrific combination of business experience and government regulation knowledge to OmniTRAX Canada," said OmniTRAX Inc. Chief Executive Officer Kevin Shuba in a press release. "[His] wealth of knowledge will take our operations in Canada to a whole new level, ensuring exciting growth of our business and enhancing Canadian communities."OmniTRAX Inc. also named Pierre-Luc Mathieu chief strategy officer. He will be responsible for strategy development, service expansion, new market entries, and mergers and acquisitions.Mathieu served Brambles Ltd. for the past nine years in various executive roles, including vice president and general manager, director of strategy and business development, and manager of sales finance. He previously held several strategy and manufacturing positions at Le Group Michelin in Canada.
