Panama Canal Railway Co. President and Director General Thomas Kenna has been elected chairman of the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America and the Caribbean (AACCLA).A member of the board since 2011, Kenna will serve one year as chairman. He will use his platform to push for continued growth of the chambers’ network, including the creation and integration of a new American Chambers of Commerce, according to a press release from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce“I look forward to working with the network of 24 American Chambers of Commerce to champion free trade, free markets, and free enterprise,” said Kenna. “Together we can make real and lasting change in this hemisphere that will help build a prosperous future in the years and decades ahead.”The AACCLA and its 24 member American Chambers of Commerce represent more than 20,000 companies and over 80 percent of U.S. investment in the region.The Panama Canal Railway is a Kansas City Southern joint venture.
