Patriot Rail Co. LLC and Patriot Port Holdings LLC announced today that Matt Nelson, vice president of accounting and finance, will become chief financial officer effective Jan. 1, 2021.

Nelson will succeed CFO Jennifer Whiteman, who is leaving the company at year's end to spend more time with family and pursue personal interests, Patriot officials said in a press release.

Nelson joined Patriot in 2020 and has served in various leadership positions in finance, treasury, accounting and investor relations within the rail and environmental services industries, including 10 years of leadership roles at CSX and Advanced Disposal Services. His most recent role with Advanced Disposal included oversight of an initial public offering.

"Matt's leadership skills, financial acumen and relevant industry experience positions him well to make this important transition a smooth one," said Patriot Chief Executive Officer John Fenton.

Fenton thanked Whiteman for her seven years of service to the company.

"Since joining Patriot in 2013, Jennifer has been a valuable member of management team by creating a world-class finance organization that will continue to support Patriot's strategic growth initiatives," Fenton said.
