Patriot Rail Co. LLC and Patriot Port Holdings LLC has appointed Donald Itzkoff chief policy officer.

Most recently, Itzkoff headed global government affairs for Wabtec Corp., and earlier led U.S. government affairs for GE Transportation. His public service includes more than five years as deputy administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration. He also served as a senior counsel to the U.S. Senate committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.

Itzkoff will report to Patriot Rail Chief Executive Officer John Fenton.

"Don's extensive public and private sector experience will help Patriot accelerate our visionary growth strategy and further advance the Patriot brand," Fenton said in a press release.

Itzkoff said he worked with Fenton when the Patriot Rail CEO ran the Metrolink commuter-rail system in the Los Angeles area.

"It is privilege now to be part of the terrific team John has assembled at Patriot to deliver for customers and grow new value for the company," Itzkoff said.
