The Indiana Rail Road Co. has hired Jodi Heath as vice president of business development. Heath will be responsible for INRD's business development team, developing new business opportunities and creating customized solutions for customers. She succeeds Larry Kaelin, who will retire at the end of March after more than 21 years with the company. Heath began her railroading career at Norfolk Southern Railway as a commercial development manager, short-line marketing manager and field sales manager before becoming the VP of business development at Pioneer Lines.  Most recently, she served as director of sales and marketing at Genesee & Wyoming Inc.

RailPros has hired Tim Newhard as vice president of training and media services. Newhard has almost two decades of experience in learning and development. His background includes progressively expanding roles in the development and implementation of training platforms, programs and enablement tools for large and small companies, Newhard will report to Chief Safety Officer Rick Bellew, and be based in Jacksonville, Florida. The opportunity for Newhard comes as result of the promotion of previous incumbent, Erika Bruhnke, who advanced to chief sales and growth officer in late 2023.

Sound Transit's board will meet tomorrow to vote on a one-year appointment of Goran Sparrman as the Seattle agency's interim CEO. Sparrman has more than 30 years of experience in the public and private sectors. He currently is a business development officer and vice president at HNTB Corp. If approved as Sound Transit's interim chief executive, he will succeed Julie Timm, who recently announced she will step down Jan. 12 to return to the East Coast to take care of family matters.
