People news from Ports of Indiana, Florida DOT, STV, Ship and Rail Compensation (April 1)

The Ports of Indiana hired Doug Caylor as its business development director as of March 31. Caylor has 30 years of experience in maritime sales and operations, including serving as sales director for American Commercial Barge Lines, transload and terminal operations manager for Arrow Material Services and international steamship line sales for MID-SHIP Group. “Doug’s professionalism and industry knowledge will play a key role in developing new partnerships and business opportunities for our ports,” said Ports of Indiana CEO Jody Peacock.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has appointed District 4 Secretary Steven Braun as the FDOT representative to the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority Governing Board (TriRail). His appointment took effect March 28. Since joining FDOT in 1993, Braun has served in several department head positions, including the planning and environmental administrator, district design engineer, and director of transportation development. As District 4 secretary, Braun leads a team of nearly 700 FDOT employees.
STV promoted Paul Bobby to Illinois area manager. As a vice president at STV, Bobby will oversee projects, client relationships and operations at STV’s Chicago office. He has more than 25 years of experience in design and construction of railroad and highway infrastructure improvements. He joined STV in 2004 and is serving as the deputy program manager overseeing the implementation of Chicago commuter railroad Metra’s five-year, $2.5 billion capital program.
Ship and Rail Compensation Canada’s new administrator, Caroline Healey, began her five-year term on March 31. Healey has 20 years of experience in the transportation industry, including senior leadership roles at VIA Rail Canada, the Railway Association of Canada and Genesee & Wyoming Inc. She aims to build on the progress made under her predecessor, ensuring compensation for individuals and communities impacted by oil spills from ships and railway accidents involving crude oil, Canadian government officials said in a press release.
