People news from Short Line Safety Institute and TriMet

The Short Line Safety Institute's board recently welcomed Kristin Bevil, general counsel and chief legal officer of Pinsly Railroad, as its newest member. At Pinsly, she provides guidance to the operations teams of seven short lines. “Kristin Bevil’s experience in guiding short-line railroad management in issues as diverse as litigation, governance, regulatory compliance and labor relations will provide a broader perspective to our team," said SLSI Executive Director Tom Murta in a press release. Bevil also serves as vice president of the central region of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad's board.
TriMet last week announced Claire Khouri has been named chief of strategy and planning for the Portland, Oregon, transit agency. She joins TriMet from Sound Transit in Seattle, where she worked since April 2018. Khouri has more than 20 years of experience in public policy and in leading collaborative efforts in strategy, technical systems and infrastructure, TriMet officials said in a press release. In her new role, she will lead strategic planning and development and have oversight of the agency's planning department, engineering and construction, and public affairs divisions.
